Navigating the Nervous System

Weekend Workshop

There is a sense of ease that comes from living with a nervous system that responds with flexibility to the ordinary—and sometimes extraordinary—challenges we meet each day. Come listen to the rhythm of your body, and tune in to the important information your nervous system holds—information you can use to enhance your well-being.

Through embodiment and yoga practices and principles of polyvagal theory, you learn:

How experience creates patterns of protection and connection
Ways to use thesocial engagement systemto create nourishing connections
The physiology of breathing, with guided experiential practice
Co-regulation, through partner work and exercises
Practices for up-regulation, to promote the dance between connection and mobilization
Meditation and yoga nidra for down-regulation, to access safety in stillness.
Return to your everyday life with a deeper awareness of how you navigate the world, and with a set of practices to support your well-being.

Be your own Bodyworker

2 Hour Workshop
1 Day Workshop

In this workshop you will work with specific tools to focus on improving range of motion, eliminating pain, strengthening musculature around the joints, downregulating the nervous system and preparing the body for optimum performance. Many of the sequences are developed from training in trauma with Bessel Van der Kolk,  combined with Anatomy Trains myofascial Meridians and Yoga Tune Up from Jill Miller. Working with double track balls, foam rollers, soft inflatable balls, and small round balls we will create freedom and ease beginning with your feet and moving "down the back" and "up the front." unwinding patterns of tension and holding and other patterns holding stress and other  issues in your tissues.

Yoga Nidra

90 minute class

Known as Yogic Sleep, Yoga Nidra is based on ancient yogic teachings but made accessible for modern day life. It is a guided meditation, done by sitting or laying down in a comfortable manner. It is designed to bring the healing benefits of yogic and meditative practices to everyone. During Yoga Nidra, we learn to tap into the parts of our brain that allow for greater insight and quiet the parts of the brain that are responsible for negative thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Yoga Nidra can work to alleviate stress, help with better sleep, and heal unresolved issues and traumas. It can also allow us to recognize an underlying peace of mind that is always present within us - no matter what circumstances we are facing in life. People practicing Yoga Nidra often experience: Decreased stress, anxiety, fear and depression. Improved sleep and decreased insomnia. An ability to better manage chronic and acute pain. Healthier interpersonal relations. Heightened energy levels. Improved sense of control. More confidence and joy in their lives. A greater sense of peace and well-being.

A super charming and intimate space that is well equipped with props and some very wonderful teachers. I’m always made to feel welcome, comfortable and free to practice at my own pace - very important to me. The yin/nidra class is INCREDIBLE.
